Scallop Fishing with Traps

Scallop fishing with lights in traps is an innovative and sustainable method that is gentle on the seabed. By using LED lights to attract scallops into traditional crab and lobster traps, fishermen can now catch scallops without damaging the seabed, as is often the case with bottom trawling.

The method is both environmentally friendly and efficient, developed in collaboration between Fishtek Marine, British fishermen, local trap makers, and researchers. The goal is to make this technology commercially viable and contribute to more sustainable fishing methods globally.
